The starting and ending point of the Olinda Creek Circuit is in John Street. There is a formed gravel path, which follows each side of the Olinda Creek. They meet up at Lillydale Lake and are joined by a pathway below the lake wall.
Very little of interest along the creek at the start of the walk.
I started on the west bank with the path next to the Lilydale Marketplace car park. That is the best place to park if you are contemplating this short one-kilometre walk. The first 200 metres is straight and proved popular with both pedestrians and cyclists.
The creek was fast flowing after some heavy rain and an unusually dry stepping stone 'bridge' was partially underwater, so a short diversion to cross over the creek above its outlet from the lake was needed.
Along this section, there is a small lake away from the creek which is often frequented by water birds. On this occasion, what I think was a grey teal duck, was sitting on tree branch jutting out of the water.
