Salsa in for Sangria in 'Little Spain' on Southbank
Stepping off Grey Street into the mix of bars and restaurants in Southbank, there's now a wide variety of food and drink on offer from many countries and places. Olé is a relatively new addition to the mix and offers a fabulous wine and beer list complete with Spanish selections along with Sangria of course.

We went as a small group of four and sat on the high stools on the Grey Street side which was a nice, casual setting for a chat. It was close to the music stage but we didn't feel that we needed to shout over it to be heard and it was nice to hear some traditional and popular music as we drank and ate.

The Bocanditos or Tapas menu is well rounded with a mixture of meat and vegetarian dishes to satisfy all guests. We opted for Croquetas del dia (Croquettes of the day), which were stuffed with slow-cooked beef brisket in a spicy sauce. These little pockets of joy were quickly scoffed down along with Empanadillas del Dia (Empanadas of the day - again with beef), Croquetas de Setas y Queso (Three cheese & mushroom croquettes), Calamares (Crisp calamari w/ sea salt & aioli) and Alitas de Pollo (Spicy chicken wings w/ paprika alioli). These few dishes filled up four adult guests as they came out in portions of 3 or 4.

In addition to the tapas plates, we could have also indulged in Raciones which are slightly larger share plates or Jamon, selection boards with cured meats and cheeses. On our next visit, I would definitely like to try the Embutido Y Pan (Selection of Spanish smallgoods w/ fresh crusty bread) as I saw it whizz by us to another table and it looked amazing.

All in all, I was impressed by the fantastic service, delicious food and drink along with a fun and energetic atmosphere. Definitely a spot for a light bite to eat with friends and it would also make a really lovely date-night adventure. With the option of lower tabled seating on the Little Stanley Street side of the restaurant, you could also bring family or have a great party or event in this venue.
