The Indooroopilly Shopping Centre's new restaurant precinct now stands 6 strong. You do, after all, have to include the long standing Pin N' Whistle. All the restaurants are unique, individual and vary from each other in style as well as pricing and atmosphere. From the vast array of goodies of the Pig, to Haruko Gyuza for dumplings, to Nantucket for steak, to Mero for pizza, Nitrogenie for ice cream, even though it is not a meal, but a good after thought. There is something here for everyone.
Rounding out the mix is Ole Fuego for Spanish cuisine and tapas. This is the 3rd installment of the restaurant in Brisbane. Ole and the Sangria Bar are both located on Little Stanley Street in Southbank.
There is a good vibe here, more of a party atmosphere. With colourful accents and large wooden banquettes there is room for at least 10 - 15 people per banquette, maybe more. They greet you as you enter and you think how much fun it would be to hang out here with your friends. Large screens are provided to ward off the weather, heaters supplied for the winter. Sounds like a good place to spend a Friday evening.
Then you catch a glimpse of the craftsmanship in the woodworking throughout the restaurant from the banquettes to the interior doors to the intricately and ornately patterned, wooden ceiling (a show piece in each of the restaurants). The ceramic tiles define the indoor eating space and the front of the bar. All can be enclosed inside those lovely accordion doors.
Sitting down to peruse the menu you notice there are 17 different types of tapas. You can order for yourself, order a few, order a lot, order vegetarian or gluten free, order for your whole family. There are large share plates for 2 or 3 as well, as numerous other items on the menu.
Paella can be ordered to share. In fact, there are 3 different types that you can order. The couple sitting beside us seemed to quite enjoy theirs. The prawns were large, the Paella aromatic.
According to the website Ole Fuego will host functions of up to 100 people sitting or 180 people standing, a thought for your next family function or office party.
They opened May 30th and have been successful at carving themselves a niche here in Indooroopilly. They are opened for lunch and dinner, 10:00am - late, 7 days a week, on the Station Road end of the shopping centre, even though their website address lists them on Moggill Road.
