Old Theatre Lane revitalised for modern shopping experience
Spaces and places seem to be the latest theme around the traps at the moment and you would be hard pressed to find a more charming space to enjoy a peaceful day out than The Old Theatre Lane, off Bay View Terrace in Claremont.

Once the laneway behind the historic Claremont Picture Gardens and the Princess Theatre from 1909 through to their final demise and demolition in 1969, this beautiful lane now enjoys a new life with a myriad of eclectic small shops and boutiques.

Starting at Bay View Terrace with Tom's, the traditional barbershop, the Old Theatre Lane hosts boutiques like Modern Era through to the central Lane Coffee Shop. Next door is La Lucca, Midsummer Nights Dream, Trowbridge Framers, a Travel Store and a Hair Salon leading to the smaller laneways. Right leads to the iconic Zenith Music Store, the left to Brogue Shoes and beyond.

New to the Old Theatre Lane is a Saturday morning market, an artists' collective, a chance to see and buy from a diverse range of wonderful art produced by local and Western Australian artists. The market stalls along the lane are a once-a-month event, taking place on the first Saturday morning of each month from 9.00am to 1.00pm, the next one on September 2nd, 2017.

Part of the beauty of The Old Theatre Lane is its easy access to public transport with its proximity to The Claremont Train Station as well as the buses along Stirling Highway. Everything is just a stone's throw away, including the historic Claremont Hotel and eating areas interspersed around the large department stores and supermarkets.

A visit to Bay View Terrace precinct and the Old Theatre Lane is a great day out to peruse the shops, have quiet refreshments and take in the beauty of the arched ceilings along the laneway.

A visit to the art market along The Old Theatre Lane on the first Saturday of each month sounds like it could be on the list of things to do, adding even more attractions to this chic historic town.
