Petrie, just north of Brisbane is where you will find
Old Petrie Town – a complex on the Dayboro Road, at Kurwongbah – is a great place to explore local history. There is so much to see – even on a week-day when not all the buildings are open to explore. Most of the action is on Sundays.

Pine Rivers Heritage Museum
The Old
Petrie Town Markets are open for business every Sunday – with a great variety of shops and stall selling all sorts of goodies – which include craft, handmade items, jewellery, clothing, pottery, fruit and vegetables, and lots more. The Market is open from 8 am to 2 pm
Old Petrie Town is also where you will find the
Pine Rivers Heritage Museum, which always has fascinating items on display or exhibitions. Entry is free. The opening hours are from 10 am to 3 pm from Tuesday to Friday, and on Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm, and Sundays 9 am to 2 pm. Learn about the local history, explore the exhibitions. They would also welcome new Volunteers if you live in the area too!
The
Heritage Hotel is open on Fridays for lunch and dinner, and Saturday for brunch and afternoon teas. On Sunday mornings you can enjoy a cooked breakfast while watching all the action of the Markets. It is also a popular venue for weddings and functions. For more information visit
the website.
Petrie Town is also the home of the
Fire Brigades Historical Society of Queensland , which began in the early 1980's, and now has a museum within Old Petrie Town. It is open from 8 am to 12 noon every Sunday. You will find more information at their
website here.
