The Old Cheese Factory features a 1860's historic Springfield Homestead, cheese factory & kitchen wash house.

I stumbled across this place by chance, and it made for a lovely half day out. We explored beautiful gardens and historic buildings. There was also a large playground that was popular amongst the children and barbeque facilities. What is fantastic about this historic area is it's absolutely free to get in and explore at your leisure.

What better way to top off this lovely expedition that with Devonshire tea, high tea, or lunch at the historic 1865 Springfield Homestead which offers an old historic style dining experience! They use produce from their own gardens. The jam is home-made from seasonal fruit and the scones are freshly baked. The jam is also available for purchase. The café has a wide range on offer, with many gluten free, vegetarian and dairy free options.

There are also regular Farmers Markets held at the Cheese Factory every 2nd Saturday of the Month where fresh produce from farmers is sold. You can expect to find fruit, vegetables, eggs, bread, spices, honey and pies amongst other items for sale.

Functions, conferences, gallery exhibitions, community activities and weddings can also be held on the Old Cheese Factory property.
