Get ready for lots of beer
The kick-off for Oktoberfest, that well-known beer-drinking, dirndl-wearing, sausage-eating event, has a new element to it this year. Yes, there will be dogs too. Next Saturday, September 16th, from 12 until late come and join the Oktoberfest Street Party and bring your dog along. Why should only you have all the fun?
The Oktoberfest street parties will be held in Melbourne as well as in Sydney, Penrith, Broadbeach, and Brisbane. Fun activities include tapping of various beer kegs(this is how the Munich Oktoberfest begins its festivities too), an official Oktoberfest Parade and pork knuckle championship.There will be pop-up beer tents serving Löwenbräu Oktoberfestbier and other specialty German beers, traditional German food and bands playing all the beer-drinking songs you may know from your trips to Germany.
5 entry per pooch will be donated to the Furry Friends Forever Rescue as will $1 from every pretzel sold on the day. There will be Free Doggy Bag for all contenders and the winning Oktoberfest Dog will receive a special trophy, some treats from Real Pet Food Company and an Oktoberfest Bar Voucher for their special owner.
