If you've ever been to Oktoberfest in Munich your eyes will bulge and your stomach may squeeze at the thought of all the 1L steins you drank, but you'll always remember it as a day you had a hell of a lot of fun.

The rain probably poured outside that day but the enormous beer tents welcomed you with warmth and arms full of bubbling beers. After stein 2 or maybe 3, the smell of roasted pork knuckles and bratwursts would have drifted through the air, infesting your nostrils and making your stomach yearn for meat to soak up the alcohol. Ofcourse the band would have blasted out bopping tunes to get you all jigging about until you're charging glasses high in the air and bouncing on bench seats and table tops singing 'Sweet Caroline' at the top of your lungs with 10,000 other travelers, all of whom have become your new best friends.

But if you've not been to Munich for Oktoberfest - don't despair - for the third annual Oktoberfest in the Gardens is hitting Supreme Court Gardens on October 12th and you're invited!

You'll be entertained by a good old fashioned German band, local bands and DJs and some of Perth's best performance artists. As well as the most important thing - stein upon stein of flowing local and imported beer (as well as cider, wine and RTDs for the non-beer drinkers...but be prepared to be called a pansy if it's not a stein in your hand).

They've got Perth's best European butchers working hard to bring you a feast of Germanic proportions. Think pretzels, pig on a spit, schnitzels, bratwursts, roast chicken and my very favourite - the traditional pork knuckle.

What to wear?**
Of course you'll absolutely want to look the part so shop around early to get yourself a German costume!

Character Creations in O'Connor, Cannington and Morley have a variety of dirndl inspired items for the ladies to help you harness your inner beer wench, and there's lederhosen options for the guys.

There are a range of other costume shops you could try including Costume Studio in Wembley Aladin's Cave in Willeton Walk the Plank in South Perth, Doyle's Costumes in Osborne Park Apparition in Claremont.

Or order one of your very own to keep as a memento (and use again next year) online.

Tickets are $54.80 which includes a commemorative stein and one free drink. Last year sold out, so get in quick.

Prost!
