If there has been one good thing that has come out of these times of social limitations, I would have to say that it is a return to simple pleasures. Have you noticed just how many people, both adults and children, are picnicking in our suburban park of late?

I admit to visiting local reserves with a friend and takeaway coffee and simply sitting enjoying nature. What about you? O'Gorman Park in Alexandra Hills is the perfect example of a park for which it is worth packing a picnic basket and rug. And don't forget the kiddies, especially with school holidays upon us.

Firstly, this is a spacious area with smatterings of tall gums to provide shade as well as areas to explore. Dogs on the leash are welcome and poop bags are supplied.

The playground equipment is modern and fun and includes a xylophone and drums (hey, better they make noise outdoors rather than indoors, right?). Lots of climbing and stepping stones to wear the little ones out and the crocodile hiding in the sand is just gorgeous. For the bigger kids, there is a mini basketball court.

There are two undercover picnic tables as well as a gas barbeque. Good news: there are also bathroom facilities.

There is off-street parking off O'Gorman Street, including disabled parking which is a brilliant addition.

I enjoyed my walk through this beautiful reserve and was thrilled to see so many people on their rugs on the lawn enjoying the day. Try it out for yourself.
