If you have small children and are planning a trip to the Swan Valley you should take them to visit Oggies Ice Cream Café. Oggies has been based in the Swan Valley for over 10 years. They serve lunch, desserts and over 60 different flavours of home-made Italian gelato. You can find them on West Swan Road. They are open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm.
If you want something hot to eat, Oggie's Kitchen serves lunch dishes every day from 10am to 4pm for very affordable prices. There is a kid's menu available. Prices start at $7.50 and go up to $17.50. Oggies also sells a selection of hot and cold beverages. You can buy milkshakes, thickshakes, iced coffee and chocolate, spiders, fruit juices, coffee and tea, hot chocolate, water and soft drinks.
When I was walking up to Oggie's the first thought that came into my mind was that it looked a little bit run down. The play equipment they have looks a bit old and the front of the café could use a bit of a touch-up. Don't let its appearance turn you off though. Oggie's is well worth the visit because of its great ice cream.
I was impressed with all the different type of flavours they had. There were the usual ones you would expect like Peanut Butter, Strawberry and French Vanilla. They also had ones like Ginger Bread, Apple Pie and Mascarpone & Caramelised Fig.
We chose to get some hot waffles with two scoops of ice cream. We got a scoop of Ginger Bread and Apple Pie. Our waffles came out with two decent sized scoops and a light drizzling of maple syrup on them. I thought the ice cream was great! It was bursting with flavour. I could really taste the differences between the two. Apple Pie had a strong Apple taste and Ginger Bread had chunks of gingerbread in it. The waffle was nice as well. It was the perfect sized dessert for two people to share.
I was pretty impressed with the dessert we had at Oggies. I would happily go back again to try some more of their delicious ice cream.
