The skies over Goolwa will be lit up by a magnificent fireworks display once again this coming New Year's Eve. Locals and visitors to Goolwa are invited to gather at the Wharf Precinct, along with the water's edge or perhaps even on a boat to enjoy the display.

The Hindmarsh Island Bridge will be closed to all traffic from 11.30pm on December 31 as pyrotechnic expert Andrew 'Crackers' Fragnito and his team prepare for the midnight spectacle.

The free event is organised by a small committee of local people and is funded by donations from local businesses and community groups.

It follows highly successful displays in 2015 and 2017 which were enjoyed by locals and visitors from near and far.

Goolwa Wharf Precinct will be declared a dry zone on New Year's Eve and no alcohol will be permitted apart from that served at the licensed establishments nearby. So if you wish to toast at midnight, you'd be wise to book into one of the wharf functions. Otherwise, bring a chair and a camera and enjoy the celebration with family and friends.

A photo competition will be run again this year with a $100 prize offered to the winning photographer.
