Open your imagination to 'Of This Earth' What are you doing May 4? Dwelling on the present, musing in a past reverie? Could it possibly be as intriguing as uncovering future possibilities in the City of Casey's new heart of creativity - Bunjil Place?

'Of This Earth'

Bunjil Place

Have you heard of this new Community hub of activity and life? Book in for 'Of This Earth' the first Saturday in May, it is the perfect opportunity to discover it.

The architecture of Bunjil Place references Aboriginal creation myths. It sweeps in the shape of The Spirit Bunjil - a wedge-tailed eagle told to have carved man from clay. It creates light and a community space that is steeped in cultural meaning. It is the perfect location for an event which explores how to create a sustainable ecological future through expanding our imagination.

The Bunjil Place roof floats. This conveys the idea of Bunjil's wings protecting his creation. The event inspires us to do the same. 'Of this Earth' is a multifaceted gathering which explores how we might value the wonder of our existence in this country and on this planet. This Is how we can ensure its future.

The Inspiration

'Of This Earth' is Inspired by Bruce Pascoe's book Dark Emu. It gives Bruce Pascoe the space of discussion and discovery he desired when he set out researching Aboriginal agriculture. End your assumptions about Aboriginal culture as a hunting and gathering society. Come to 'Of This Earth' and learn how they were really full-scale farmers.

The Chef

With former chef and restauranteur Alexander Perry as a collaborating partner, you just know this experience is going to taste delicious. His Castlemaine heritage and culinary training in Melbourne city have led him to be known for a cuisine approach that respects produce and has an artistic flair.

His former career as Owner/Head Chef of The Good Table has led to a reputation for thoughtful seasonal sharing dishes. This features his obvious passion for bringing people together to value and savour the carefully sourced food on their plate. Pursuing this interest has led to this fabulous opportunity to share with 100 guests the taste of the future educated by the past.
