The upcoming Guide Dog's Queensland OctoberFETCH event is a time for you and your family (and your dog) to enjoy and also show your support for the organisation that agrees that dogs are man's best friend.
There will be a range of activities for the better part of the day, including dog displays, kids's rides, entertainment, a puppy parade, competitions and much more. There will also a range of stalls and food available, as well as a 'dog-a-thon' charity walk to raise much needed funds for Guide Dogs Queensland. Rightly called a 'Carnival for Canines', this is an opportunity to treat your dog to a fun day out as well. To register for this great event, please visit the website or just turn up on the day. For those wishing to participate in the dog-a-thon, a $10 donation is expected on the day, and for showing your support, you could have a chance to score yourself a free gift. Please check out the website for more details.
Guide Dogs Queensland has been helping out blind and impaired Queenslanders since the 1960s. Of course, this great organisation provides many services other than just guide dogs, including electronic travel aids, community and professional education workshops, mobility programs for vision impaired and blind children, and more.
So to help Guide Dogs Queensland continue the work they are doing, register to be part of the OctoberFETCH: Carnival for Canines and help Guide Dogs Queensland reach their goal of $30 000 to help more puppies into guide dogs, and of course, to treat your pooch to a great day out.
There are several ways to help and show your support for Guide Dogs Queensland, even if you don't happen to have a pet dog. You can volunteer to sell merchandise, become a full-time volunteer and care for one of our guide dogs-in-training, or even work at Guide Dogs regional or head office. If you don't have that much time (or space), then you can choose to sponsor a puppy and receive regular updates of your puppy's progress as a guide dog and know you are making a difference in someone's life. You can even buy something for yourself from the online shop or Homewares Plus catalogues, or alternatively, you can give your second-hand clothes, furniture and other goods to Guide Dogs Queensland Op Shop in exchange for cash.
One of the ways Guide Dogs Queensland is counting on you to contribute, especially in light of this year's OctoberFETCH, is to donate generously to this great organisation, by donating on the day, or raising money by participating in the dog-a-thon.
Whatever you choose to do on the day at the event, don't forget to raise awareness and money for Guide Dogs Queensland, in support of the work they do for the blind and impaired people of Queensland. For more information, including how to donate or register, please visit the website, and don't forget to take your dog and your family and friends to the OctoberFETCH: Carnival for Canines for a great day out.
