Formerly occupied by Happy Corner Restaurant , October Chinese Restaurant at St Morris is where you can enjoy a good range of Chinese dishes. Specials are offered for those who desire some variety.

Their Pipa Tofu had a nice firm texture and the mushrooms and Chinese BBQ Pork mixed throughout provided extra flavour. It is advised to eat them slowly as the interior is steaming hot. The oyster sauce topping the dish added a sweet-savoury flavour and ensured that the dish was not dry. A few florets of broccoli completed the dish.

Their Tea Smoked Duck had an aromatic smoky scent and the tender flesh was easy to eat off the bones. The flesh had a lovely degree of smoked flavour and the skin was crisp. While the duck was flavoursome enough by itself, hoisin dipping sauce came with the dish for those who desire to add more flavour.

The flesh of the Crispy Beef in Sesame Peking Sauce was not tough and was contrasted nicely by the crisp coating. The Peking sauce gave the dish a sweet taste that was not too intense. The consistency was that which did not mar the crispiness of the coating. A bed of fried vermicelli rice noodles served as a bed for the beef for added crunch.

When ordering their Wok Fried Long Bean, diners have the choice between XO sauce, garlic or pork mince to be cooked with the long beans. There was sufficient pork mince in the pork mince option to make eating the dish satisfying, and the green beans still retained their texture. Small cubes of Chinese BBQ pork provided a change of texture and extra flavour. The sauce that the beans were cooked in gave the dish a savoury flavour.

We liked that the eggs in the Prawn Scrambled Egg were light and fluffy, and the prawns were of a good size. The prawns were cooked to perfection and did not taste fishy. While not apparent from the dish’s name, sliced mushrooms were included and complemented the prawns nicely.

The decor gave the restaurant a comfortable feel. There was a good amount of seating space. If you are looking for a good place for Chinese cuisine at St Morris, consider giving October Chinese Restaurant a visit.
