Hear classic songs from the world's best divas
Australian female singing superstars Paulini, Mirusia and Angie Narayan will be performing together to present a show of classic Rock! Pop! Opera! songs on Sunday 7 August 2022 at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

Each of the women is a star in their own right and have captivated audiences across the country. So while individually they are each sensational singers, put this dynamic trio together and you have a different kind of magic to create an unforgettable collaboration of musical proportions.

Paulini Curuenavuli is a Fijian-Australian singer and songwriter who first came to prominence in 2003 as a contestant on the first season of Australian Idol where she placed fourth in the competition.

Most recently Paulini has appeared in musical theatre productions of popular shows including The Bodyguard, Saturday Night Fever, Hair, Chess the Musical, and Eurovision 2022.

The soulful sounds of Angie Narayan saw her star in the hit RESPECT: The Aretha Franklin Story as well as having appeared on the TV show Australian Idol where she was described as Australia's 'Soul Mama' by judge Ian Dickinson.

Mirusia Lowverse is a Brisbane based Australian Dutch soprano who has performed and toured internationally with Dutch maestro Andre' Rieu.

Together, these incredible vocalists will perform a selection of ageless hits from some of the world's biggest musical icons and divas including Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Adele, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Cher, Madonna and more.

I asked Paulini to tell us a little more about the show and how it came into being.

How did the idea and collaboration between you, Mirusia and Angie come about?

It first started between Mirusia, Angie Narayan [who is my cousin] and Monique Cribb our producer. Monique has a previous connection with Mirusia and invited her to one of Angie's shows. My understanding is that Mirusia loved so much of what Monique created that she asked her to write a show for her, to which together with Angie has now evolved to include myself and the birth of Rock! Pop! Opera! We all have the same vision of bringing together 'girl power' and honouring the world's greatest Divas!

Had you performed together before?

Obviously, with Angie being my cousin we have sung together on different occasions but I'm pretty sure this is our first professional show in the same lineup. In regard to performing with Mirusia… we haven't performed LIVE yet! However, we did head into the studio last year and can't wait for the release of Mirusia's new single 'I Know Him so Well' – which of course will be included in the Rock! Pop! Opera! show.

What do you think complements you all performing together while each of you come from different musical genres?

Although we individually have our own genre, the beauty of this show is that all three of us will be showcased in different lights. You will see Mirusia performing 'Madonna' and myself tackling opera and many other amazing songs where all three of us are performing together! Basically, all bets are off, in the most exciting!

The show features the songs of some remarkable female artists and memorable songs. How did you go about selecting the songs in the show?

The song selection has been highly crafted by the show's creators which is a little bit of a secret at this point… However, what I can tell you is that you can expect to see the ultimate mix-tape of the best diva songs from Celine, Whitney, Adele, Beyonce, Madonna, Cher, Eva Cassidy, Sarah Brightman and many more!

One incredible feature of this show is that it will also include Lai Utovou [winner of All Together Now] and Rachel Everett-Jones Utovou on backing vocals so the harmonies, backed by a killer band with a string section make this show out of this world!

With three powerful women performing and touring together, have there been any diva moments?

This will be the first show kicking off the Rock! Pop! Opera! series for 2022, with more dates to be announced in other cities for 2023 & 2024! But, as Monique will tell you, although this is a 'Divas show', Mirusia and Angie are quite literally the loveliest, sweetest women you could ever hope to meet and work with, to which I feel so blessed to be working with them both, especially my cousin! So, we will save the Diva explosions for during the performances only!

Be sure not to miss out on this exceptional show. The trio will perform two shows in Brisbane on 7 August at 2:00pm and 7:00pm.
