A survey of the winter water temperatures in Hobart's indoor public swimming pools has revealed Hobart's warmest swimming pool and Hobart's warmest lap pool. Warm water swimming can be a great way to re-heat your bones, increase blood circulation and enjoy some exercise at the same time.
The warmest indoor swimming pool in greater Hobart is the hydrotherapy pool at Oceana Aquatic and Fitness in Mornington. This pool is kept at a cosy 33.5 degrees Celsius. This hydrotherapy pool is about two lanes wide and up to 1.9 metres deep, so there is plenty of room to move around in, particularly up the deep end. Entry to the hydrotherapy pool for casual visitors is not included in the entry price for a casual swim in the lap pool, so make sure you ask for a "full casual swim" and not just a casual swim to get access to this pool.
Warm water lap swimming can be a great option to warm up on cold days
Oceana Aquatic and Fitness also takes out the title of warmest lap pool in Hobart. The 25 metre lap pool is operated at 28.5 degrees, which is marginally warmer than the other lap pools around town. You need to wear a swimming cap in the main pool - bring your own or you can buy one as a momento of the warmest swim that Hobart has to offer.
These two pools are booked for after school swimming lessons between 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm on weekdays, but are generally free for casual swimming outside of these times. Lane availability is not listed on Oceana's website, so it is a good idea to ring ahead and check the pool availability if you are travelling from afar to visit the pool.
The full survey results include the warmest temperatures at every indoor public swimming pool in greater Hobart, so you can also look up the warmest pool that is nearest to you.
