What a little gem of a place. These guys seriously have it all. They have covered all bases and have earned a very special place in the local's hearts.
Aside from roasting superb coffee and making an awesome cafe latte, they are serious about looking after our environment and I am not just talking a little lip service. These guys organise local beach clean-ups and support Tangaroa Blue with donations to assist their work coordinating the Australian Marine Debris Initiative. They use 100% compostable coffee bags, use their coffee grounds in their gardens, offer reusable tins for wholesale customers, recycle all of their soft plastics and they endeavour to purchase coffee from farms that use sustainable farming practices. The cherry on top? Getting rid of disposable coffee cups. That is a serious commitment. They offer alternatives like a mug library, BYO reusable, a 'swap and go' option or they suggest you take five minutes out of your day and dine in.
If you do find yourself dining in, you can bring the kids, there are usually colouring books and pencils, there is a table tennis table and the staff are super friendly to the little tykes. There are delicious little bites to eat and most days they have a food truck in the carpark offering something 'delish' for lunch. Just keep the kiddos inside, as the cafe has sprouted from the warehouse and is in an industrial estate, which adds to the laid back, simple style of the place. Festoon lights, milk crates and Felix the little timber caravan make this a pretty cool hangout.
There are modern (and always clean) toilets in the warehouse.
You can also purchase all sorts of coffee making related accessories, Ocean Grind T-shirts, ceramic reusable coffee cups and more. They even offer different barista training options too. I told you they have it all.
