Last Saturday night, a group of our friends and family had tickets to see Dirty Dancing at QPAC at South Bank. So we decided to grab a bite to eat prior to the show. We booked a table at Obsession Restaurant online with Dimmi for 6pm. With the show starting at 8pm it gave us enough time to wine, dine and catch up with plenty of time to walk down to the Lyric Theatre to enjoy the show.

Obsession Restaurant
Obsession Restaurant and Bar is located on the busy and bustling Little Stanley Street on Southbank which is just the location for a pre theatre bite to eat. It is a modern Chinese restaurant boasting a contemporary and exciting menu using fresh and organic produce.
The menu was quite extensive and varied which proved a little difficult to decide on what to eat, as most of the dishes sounded delicious. It catered well for gluten free and vegetarian items. Some of the menu items had very interesting names.

Forbidden Palace Pork
We ended up choosing some dishes to share. These included Forbidden Palace Pork ($24) which was bite size sweet and sour pork in a fruity sauce, Pork and Aubergine Hot Pot ($22 - minced pork with eggplant, cashew nuts, shallots served in clay pot).

I was taken by Buddha's Happiness which was a combination of organic seasonal vegetables with tofu, mushrooms and fungi ($29). I was very happy with this dish as it was fresh, yummy and delicious.

The other dish that was quite impressive was the Cantonese Style Seafood Chow Mien with fried egg noodles, mixed seafood and bok Choy ($32)

Yummy Seafood Chow Mien
We all enjoyed the food which was served promptly after ordering. It was enjoyed with a glass of wine and pleasant and lively conversation. Obsession also has an extensive wine list and a good selection of cocktails to choose from.
The restaurant is open 7 days for both lunch (11am-3pm) and dinner from 5pm with the bar open until midnight. The dessert menu looked appealing, so when we have more time, this may need to be explored...

Cheers
By the way, Dirty Dancing was awesome, a truly magical night.
