Robert Hannaford, AM is one of the country's best realist painters. Even though he had no formal training as a painter his direct observational paintings are a feat of draftsmanship.
His mentors were the great Sir Hans Heysen and Ivor Hele. Hannaford was winner of many portrait prizes across Australia including the Doug Moran Portrait Prize in 1990 and the Viewer prize in the Archibald in 1991 and 1998. He was also a finalist in the Archibald in 2002. Hannaford was made a Member of the Order of Merit in 2014 for services to the arts. This promises to be a wonderful exhibition.
