The headland offers expansive views up and down the coast, and what makes it more striking is the fact that the entire Observation Head Lookout headland is formed entirely on sedimentary rock.
It is the oldest rocks to crop out around this part of the coast!
The rocks have an ochre source that comprises most of the steep cliffs on the northern and north-western side of the headland. The coloured clays of the cliffs face are highly aesthetic...

The cliffs are extremely steep and are around thirty metres tall. Do be careful as there is no fencing around the tracks.
There are several walking tracks around the Lookout, with each track offering you a different perspective.
