Grow a garden for your health and happiness

Despite the drought conditions affecting much of Queensland and Australia, the recent rains and a now full water tank reinvigorated my desire to introduce some new plants into my garden.

Rather than go to the larger, commercial stockists, I decided to visit a local nursery instead. My nursery of choice was somewhat of a secret among the garden fanatics - Oasis Plant Nursery.

Oasis Plant Nursery is a hidden treasure in the brimming backyard of a private residence in a Queenslander style home in Kelvin Grove. The nursery is only open 2 days a week Fridays and Saturdays from 10am-5pm which prepares you for focussed browsing and a weekend of planting.

The Gardens' Layout
I wandered off the pavement on Herston Road and up to the white picket fence, walked through the garden gate and down the driveway and my Oasis Plant Nursery experience began. Stepping through the gently sloping site with paved walkways and you will find plants happily lining both sides of the path.

The garden has several feature areas which break up the space and make the exploration more interesting.

The range of plants
The plants at Oasis have all been lovingly propagated and grown on-site. The seeds and cuttings have been collected from Brisbane streets, gardens and parks, so you can be sure that the plants are ideally suited to the Brisbane climate.

You'll find a range of Indoor and outdoor varieties including hanging baskets, pots, and hardy succulents,

In these rain poor times, I was interested to see the selection of resilient succulents.

Prices are based on the sizeof the pot. Standard Pot prices range from:

100mm(4" ) Pots - $4
140mm(6" ) Pots - $5
200mm(8") Pots - $10
250mm(10") Pots - $18

Oasis Plant Nursery is a sweet privately run nursery which is a local and personal alternative to the major chains and offers the welcome of its gardening keen owners.
