I write essays, short stories and political commentary and believe the colour orange is unfairly discriminated against.

Oasis is a Middle Eastern bakery in Murrumbeena, well worth a visit simply to partake of their macarons (14.95 for half a dozen). The cafe is lively and sometimes loud, and serves such fare as falafels, shawarmas (kebabs) and kebbehs (dumplings).

French vanilla, pistachio, blueberry, creme brulee, and my personal favourite - salted caramel.

There are pastries and salads, hommus and chips and other home-made meals which vary daily. According to the website these can can be anything from "hearty Moroccan tajine dishes; baked fish with yallateef; chicken baked with garlic & potatoes; satisfying soups; couscous & seven vegetables; kafta baked with potatoes: pomegranate rice ..." Sweets include baklavas, Turkish delight, and a whole range of droolworthy pastries and cakes.

The attached grocery store sells over 3000 different items, including a large range of spices.

Oasis was given a guernsey in The Age's 2010 Top 10 Cheap Eats.

There is extra parking available at the rear of the store (with a walk-through to the front).

Oasis Bakery is Melbourne best kept secret but many people in their droves are discovering it. It's my favourite place to go. Loved the food, atmosphere, the staff friendliness their cakes and coffee are seriously hard to beat, so much so I was there last Friday with a friend and I'm going with another friend again this week tool
Everything about Oasis is great including the boss, Marwah who is as passionate about her food cooking as she is passionate about serving the best and most freshest food to those who come to eat.
If you want to take an extra step up, you can join her cooking classes up stairs. The grocery store is like going into an Aladdins Food Cave. Make a wish to find that specific spice or an ingredients and SIM SALA BIM your wish is granted. A very busy place that's buzzing. Child friendly too. You can watch the soccer on atm too. Great coffee too.
