Oakleigh State School in Dorrington welcomes spring with its annual school fair on Saturday 2 September 2017. Dorrington is tucked away in the pockets of leafy Ashgrove and is located 5kms from the CBD.
About the Fair
The Fair will kick off at 11am and run through until 8pm, ending with the bang of colourful fireworks to light up the Ashgrove skies. Along the way, visitors can enjoy an array of homemade jams, biscuits, sweets, craft, plants and a huge trash 'n' treasure market, bands, rides, and great food. Cooking demonstration, a massage stall and a science show are sure to please.
The history of the school Oakleigh is one of Brisbane's older public schools having been built in 1934. It features an imposing red brick, main building, a swimming pool, tennis courts and a large oval for the kids. The school currently has 500 students enrolled. As a former student of the school, I have fond memories of Friday night swimming club (where my father ran the tuckshop) and morning assembly backed by the tunes of the student fife band.
