Gather together family and friends and head over to Footscray Park - Ballarat Rd, Footscray on Saturday 31 December from 6.30pm to 10.30pm on New Year's eve. There's a lotta fun to be had without the late night, on an evening filled with fun and frivolity that ends in a great big fireworks spectacle that starts at 9.30pm.
In its fourth year, this special event is the second largest New Year's Eve event in Victoria, second only to the City of Melbourne. Thousands will be flocking to the banks of the iconic Maribyrnong River for an evening of entertainment and a killer line-up of live music. Bring everything that's going to keep you comfortable for an evening out in the open air and arrive nice and early to secure a prime spot.
The line-up on stage includes Rock icons 'Mental As Anything'; 'Horns of Leroy' – a seven-piece brass band from Melbourne; family-favourite and local act 'The Mudcakes'; and 'King Bell and the Soukous Ba Congo' – a spectacular African dance act. Just lay down your picnic rug, sit back and enjoy the fun. Food trucks will be on hand with a variety of different cuisines to fill those hungry tummies.
The NYE fireworks event is a signature event in the Festival City program and one of the most popular annual events. Promising to be the most spectacular yet, bring in the New Year at Footscray Park, without the huge crowds and congestion of the city centre.
