I have a had a life-long love of the arts; enjoying theatre, ballet, art and movies. We are all time poor and have limits to our entertainment budget so I hope an honest review will help make your choices easier.
Nutritious and delicious are big claims, but in my opinion, Burger Urge has delivered what they promised. Choice within the menu being key; this choice being particularly important as we all have our own personal definition of healthy and delicious.
When I look over the original Burger Urge menu I see some of my own healthy criteria. The beef is 100% Australian with no fillers, seasoning or preservatives and the chicken is RSPCA-approved. But if you look across to the new Nutritious Delicious menu, items are generally lighter in kilojoules, carbohydrates, and sugar. For me, the biggest win is to eat a burger that is packed with fresh, whole ingredients.
The Nutritious Delicious range includes two grilled chicken options and 3 vegetarian (2 vegan) options. I tried the Byron Chic and Hotel Cali. Both were fresh and delicious; loaded with salads (avocado, rocket, tomato and red onion) and each featuring delicious sauces. The Byron Chic harissa mayo and aioli was my favourite, it had a mild spice kick.
One thing that really impressed me was the gluten-free bun - it was amazing! So often a gluten-free bun is chewy and dense, totally destroying the burger experience. By comparison, the Burger Urge gluten-free bun was light and delicious. For those who can eat gluten, the menu also includes healthier wholemeal and low-carb bun options.
I also tried one of the two new salads. The Maggie's Farm salad was a truly substantial and interesting salad, loaded with nutritious ingredients such as avocado, cranberries, seeds, and farro. I had mine with chicken and was surprised to hear that my son said he would happily eat the salad in preference to a burger - what a win.
The Nutritious Delicious menu items were all generous in size and packed with fresh, whole food ingredients. Each representing great value with prices between $11.90 and $14.90.
