Most Australians by now would be aware of last week's ABC expose of the mass slaughter and abuse of racehorses, inherent in the horse racing industry. There's no denying that it is confronting footage and attendance at horse racing events has been steadily decreasing over the years.

What if you're looking for something fun to do on this public holiday, that doesn't involve attendance at the races? Melbourne Vegan Tours will be hosting a "Nup to the Cup" yoga and lunch event, with all funds raised going to the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses.

The yoga class will run for 45 minutes and will have an ahimsa (non-violence) focus. Following the class, you will be guided along Brunswick St for lunch at two different venues. Wine or beer at each of the venues is included in the ticket price. As an added bonus, each guest will receive a vegan goodie bag to take home.

Only 10 spots available and yoga mats will be provided, or BYO mat.
