Weekends are about freedom, exploring and fun... and that's worth writing about.
In the Line of Fire
What kid doesn't get excited when a fire truck races past, siren screaming, on its way to put out a big fire? What Mum doesn't crave the opportunity to listen to a firefighter recalling stories about saving the day?

Well, here's an opportunity for everyone to spend some time learning about our wonderful firefighters and what they do to keep us safe.

The 2015 Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Fire Station Open Day is happening on Saturday 30 May. Fire stations across NSW will be open from 10am to 2pm and you are invited to visit your local firefighters and learn more about fire prevention and safety.

A range of free activities will be on offer, including firefighting demonstrations, station tours and fire safety presentations. Advice about installing smoke alarms, changing smoke alarm batteries and preparing a home fire escape plan will also be provided.

Children will be able to experience fire engines and firefighting equipment up close which is guaranteed to be a highlight of the day. If Mum behaves, she may get the chance to take a selfie with one of the firies on site - sure to be a social media hit!

The Fire Station Open Day draws in more than 80,000 people each year and will help you to become more aware of what you can do to keep yourself and others safe. So, come along and enjoy a day of firies and fun.
