A resort style holiday on a budget
For a fantastic resort style holiday without the scary price tag you need look no further than one of the many caravan parks on the NSW coast. One of the best ones we have ever had the pleasure of staying at is the NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Park.

Merimbula is located on the far south coast of New South Wales in an area known as the Sapphire Coast, for obvious reasons.

NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Park is perched high up on the cliffs overlooking the coastline and the water views are simply stunning. The park is in a great location, within walking distance to both Short Point Beach and Middle Beach It is just a 15 - 20 minute walk to the main street of Merimbula or a 5 minute drive.

Apart from its great location this holiday park offers fantastic facilities and you can see why it has a 4.5 star rating. Whether you are caravanning, camping or prefer the home comforts of a cabin, the NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Park caters to all.

We stayed in our own caravan on a powered site for only $50 a night in the school holidays. What a bargain! We found the facilities to be so fantastic that I just had to share them with you.
If you don't have your own van you can choose from a basic camping site in the park, or for some stunning views of the coastline, you can choose a spectacular cliff top site. There are also en suite sites available.

If you prefer to holiday in a cabin there are numerous choices at this holiday park. Prices start from $125 per night for a 5 berth Seabreeze cabin right up to over $300 a night for The Beach House with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and the capacity to sleep up to 8 people. There are around 20 different cabins and condos to choose from to suit your family and your budget. For more information about accommodation click here.

Once you have dropped off your bags you will want to check out the park facilities straight away. The pool was our first stop.

Cool off in the inviting resort pool

The main resort pool is solar heated and the perfect place to relax on a brightly coloured sun bed in the shade while the kids play in the pool. There is also a splash pool with fountain for the little ones to enjoy.

Kids are well catered for in the entertainment department at this holiday park, with a fenced children's playground, jumping pillow and beach volleyball court and it is good to see they are all under shade sails. There is also a Kids Club available during holiday periods and they offer a great range of both indoor and outdoor activities such as craft, rock pool adventure walks, pool activities and much more.

There are plenty of activities within the park to keep the kids entertained

If all this is not enough there are also pedal karts for hire, large format games such as Connect 4 and Chess plus a massive games room with arcade games, table tennis and pool table.

Adults can enjoy the full sized tennis court and hopefully some peace and quiet while the kids are amusing themselves.

The main amenities building was modern, spacious and well maintained. There is also a second amenities building near the cliff top sites.

There is a café on site selling coffee, ice creams and basic supplies such as milk and bread.

There are lots of BBQs within the park and some excellent camp kitchen facilities. On the cliff tops there is a large camp kitchen area in funky shades of orange. At the other end of the park, near the children's playground is another large camp kitchen.

We only spent a couple of nights here on the way home from a road trip and we wished we had more time to spend in this idyllic location. From the cliff tops we were able to spot some migrating whales in the distance and we also enjoyed exploring the nearby beaches and lagoon.

Located on Short Point Road, Merimbula this park is a member of both the BIG4 chain and NRMA so loyalty discounts do apply if you are a member of either of these programs.

The location & facilities were really impressive and we can't wait to return for a longer stay in the future.

Great review, thank you. Is the resort dog-friendly?
