Lagoon Novotel Twin Waters
Enjoy the Fabulous Lagoon at Novotel Twin Waters Resort

Just over an hour's drive from Brisbane and only 5 kilometres from the Sunshine Coast Airport, the 4-star Novotel Twin Waters resort is an excellent place for a weekend break for the whole family. With beach access, its own lagoon with complementary watersports, a kids club, as well as several dining options and BBQs, there's no need to leave the resort all weekend.

The rooms have contemporary styling and are fresh and well appointed. On our first visit, we stayed in the standard resort room, which had its own balcony and basic tea and coffee making facilities. We liked the resort a lot and went back with a larger party on our subsequent trip, booking a two room suite. The suite was really spacious with two bathrooms, kitchenette with microwave and a comfortable living and dining area. There are also more expensive villas over the lagoon available.

There are plenty of dining options, including a buffet restaurant, bar with snack options, an over-water formal restaurant,a pizza takeaway and convenience shop. You can also bring your own supplies and use one of the handy courtyard BBQs.

There are many activities on the resort for the whole family. For us, the highlight was the large salt water lagoon with complementary watersports, including kayaks, catamarans and windsurfers. Kids will love bouncing on the huge water trampoline, set out in the lagoon. There is also another seasonally heated outdoor swimming pool, including a baby pool and jacuzzi.

Older children will love the Cirque Espace circus school (at an extra cost) with options of trapeze workshops, juggle skool and astro-boing bungee trampolines. There is also a games room with air hockey and pool tables, some arcade machines and a supervised 'lock in' hour. For younger children, there is a kids club managed by Kidz Cove, with qualified childcare professionals hosting themed sessions including facepainting, craft, cooking and creative activities. In the evenings, there are disco, movie and party nights and in-room babysitting available.

For golf lovers, there is an 18-hole championship golf course nearby to the resort and a 9-hole fun putting green on site. Those just wanting to relax can try out the Lagoon Day Spa, with various treatments available.

The fantastic Sunshine Coast surf beach, with lifeguard, is just a few minutes walk away from the hotel. You can rent surfboards from the hotel.

Beautiful Beach

The landscaped hotel grounds are spacious and leafy and it is lovely to stroll around the lagoon at sundown. On our last visit we spotted cockatoos and kangaroos roaming around.

For those staying longer, there are some fantastic attractions nearby, including Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, the Eumundi Markets or walking in the Glasshouse Mountains. You can also hire bikes from the resort and enjoy some cycling along the Coast.

With rooms starting at $159 per night including watersports, the hotel is great value. You are guaranteed to come back to Brisbane at the end of the weekend feeling like you have been on holiday. Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Phillip stayed there in 2002 during the Commonwealth Head of Government meeting. Well, if it's good enough for the Queen ...
