I'm a mum from North East England taking a break for 6 months in Perth whilst on maternity leave. We're aiming to do as much as we can whilst falling in love with WA.
Published March 6th 2013

It's 7.30pm and we need to be at the birthday party for 8pm and we have overlooked the issue of a present. The husband's suggestion of a petrol station box of chocolates or flowers was met with an icy glare and the words "oh for goodness sake, I'll sort it out!" I dashed up to Albany Highway with the optimism that maybe the local Target might come up trumps! As I drove up I was very happy to see a gorgeous shop just opposite the car park to East Victoria Park Shopping Centre - that was one, open and two, looking pretty classy. My present finding optimism rose somewhat!

It was one of those shops I had overlooked on my jaunts with a double buggy. I raced in with desperation written all over me and was met by someone who politely said 'hello' and that she'd be with me 'in a minute'. Normally, I'm the kind of person who when asked if they need help mutter 'no, no just looking,' but this assistant was so friendly I decided to wait for her advice. As she came over she said 'looking for a present for someone?' Now I was happy I'd come across one of those mythical assistants who actually know what you want and need.
Perfect!

I explained we needed a present for a girl who we didn't know that well, she asked a few questions and I told her the girl was dating an Italian guy, was on a health kick and stylish. The assistant took me through the gorgeous wares on offer, we decided on a $35 budget and set about filling a food hamper. The selection on offer was fantastic and I found myself salivating and wishing I was choosing for myself. We plummeted for some chutneys, olive oil, chilli and crackers. I then waited patiently (whilst sampling the taster chocolate) as she wrapped my wares up and made it look like a significantly more expensive gift! We chatted and I wished I had more time to spend there.

Nosh is a complete treat shop, somewhere to indulge and find something just that little bit special. It has no pretentious edge and excellent customer service. It opens late and offers custom packages and gifts for everyone. I couldn't be more thrilled to have found this gem and to know my present stressing days are over!
