How often do you come across Norwegian National Day? Perhaps you have less awareness of this day compared to the much more publicised Saint Patrick's Day or a Brazilian Carnival. QUT Students (Queensland University of Technology) are here to change all that! Brisbane's largest celebration in the Southern Hemisphere, Norwegian National Day will be held on Friday 17 May 2019 from 12pm to 2pm at QUT Gardens Point Campus, 2 George St, Brisbane City. The specific location is yet to be confirmed, so stay tuned on the Event Page! It's going to be a day to remember!
This event follows on from The Parade on the same day that runs from 10am to 11.59pm. It winds through the streets of Brisbane, followed by music and entertainment at QUT Botanic Bar. Hosted by ANSA Brisbane (Association of Norwegian Students Abroad), The Parade departs Queens Gardens at 10.30am. See the Event Page for timeframes of the meet up, the parade, the entertainment, raffle tickets announcements etc. There'll also be a nighttime program for the 18 plus age group to be announced; so again, stay tuned on the Event Page.
Norwegian National Day aka Norwegian Constitution Day celebrates the day the Constitution of Norway was signed on 17 May 1814. An official public holiday in Norway, it's an opportunity for the expat Norwegian community to come together and proudly celebrate their heritage; so come along and join them.
