Breakfast is my favourite time of the day to share a meal and this past weekend, I decided to treat Mum and Dad for breakfast. I choose this slightly out of the way Café at Hamilton right by the river. It is situation amongst the large new development that is currently under way at the North shore area by the Brisbane River in Hamilton, just down the road from the popular Portside precinct. My husband and I discovered this cafe about a month ago and was surprised at how popular it was.
It was ideal for us as Mum and Dad live on the south side and we live on the north side and so meeting half way is very convenient. We arrived for breakfast at 8.30am and there wasn't a lot of customers but quite a few of the tables were reserved, but within the hour the place was buzzing. I would suggest to call and reserve a table as they do weddings and functions here.
The menu is varied and it was difficult to choose between the Eggs Benedict with Smoked salmon or the Field mushrooms, goat cheese and rocket on Turkish bread. I eventually choose the Mushrooms with a poached egg, the same as my mum, while Dad ordered the Big breakfast (bacon, eggs, sausage, mushrooms, tomato and toast) and my son ordered the Croque Monsieur (thick toast smoked ham gruyerecheese crème fraiche béchamel)
Service was good and coffees arrived soon after we ordered, lovely and hot, just the way I like it. While waiting for our meals to arrive we were entertained by the paddlers on the other side of the river and the city cat turning and docking at the terminal. This is the last terminal now of the Citycat, so a trip from the city for breakfast, coffee and cake or lunch could be a very pleasant day trip.
Yes, have met friends & taken family there several times. Always impressed. Think city cat only runs there on weekends as have been there through the week & city cat didn't finish there, that was about a month ago, perhaps that has changed. But location, service & food was excellent.
