If you like to live a healthy life and try to eat organic like me, why not try out the Northey Street Organic Markets. The markets are held every Sunday starting at 6:00 am and finishing at 10:30 am. If you want the best produce and a great range it's best to arrive as early as you can.
The markets are held on Northey Street, Windsor not far from the hospital and parking is available nearby. I love the fresh produce that is available; you can find everything from fruit and Vegetables, bread, dairy, meat, preserves and my favourite wine. All produce is certified organic and grown in the region.
It's always good to help local producers and growers, in this age where everything is imported and you don't know where your food is coming from or how it's grown, markets like this give you a sense of community and I feel that the taste of organically grown produce speaks for its self. The food tastes like it should.
For those of you with children, there are activities set up especially to keep the children entertained, including a play space and art activities; it looks like a lot of fun to me. You can get a massage from a reiki expert, some kinesiology, or check out the village life project which starts at 8:00am and has entertainers and local wares. For a list of stall holders and what is happening, including workshops visit www.nscf.org.au
My favourite part of the Northey Street markets is having a cup of coffee and cake at the Chai Café. The café is run by the Northey Street city farm, all the products sold are organic and all the profits go back to the farm.
So why not get up early this Sunday and head over to Windsor and check out The Northey Street Organic Markets. I promise it will be worth the early start.
