Get yourself down to High Street, Northcote during June for the Northern Exposure Arts Festival. This annual event, now in its 7th year, is presented by the Northcote Business Association and takes art beyond traditional confines.
From June 17-July 3, High Street will be transformed into a gallery, with 30 window installations in shop fronts. This exhibition may be viewed 24 hours a day for the duration of the festival.
Small works, Small spaces' is an installation project in its inaugural year, designed to 'surprise, provoke and delight through creative engagement with High Street's public nooks and crannies.'
This installation presents small-scale artworks specific to sites in High Street. A list of artists and their works can be viewed on the festival website. An official artwork tour to view these works will take place on opening night - Friday June 17. Meet at 7pm in front of Northcote Uniting Church.
So come along and support local artists and see Northcote as you've never seen it before, where 'the street is the gallery'.
