North Sydney Olympic Pool is a beautiful location for a lazy Sunday to wind down and enjoy the sun.
North Sydney Olympic Pool
A picturesque view over Sydney Harbour.

Summer sun often means "beach-time". But when you have a whole family to look after it sometimes isn't that easy. Public pools can be over-crowded and neurotic. North Sydney Olympic Pool is a fail-safe answer if you live nearby or if you're close to public transport. For under $20 a family ticket is yours at North Sydney Olympic Pool, add your train fare/parking fare and you've got a Sunday sorted, don't forget that kids under 5 years of age will enter for free. Start out or finish up at Ripples or one of the neighboring cafes to make a day of it.

Swim at the indoor 25m or the 50m outdoor pool.

The Olympic pool is uniquely salt water, has palm trees lining the column-arched promenade along the water and glass detail makes this historical pool and stunning location. The pool meets the board-walk promenade along the water at North Sydney where there's access to the ferry, while trains and buses are less than a minute away. Of course, there are the views. Nestled right under the Harbour Bridge you can gaze across a sparkling blue expanse to the city, the Opera House and Mrs Macquarie's chair.

Parents can take their children to the kiddie's pool and creche starts at $4.00 an hour. You can take your kids for a swim, snack at the café or do some activities. Instead of a snack there is also a restaurant to enjoy. A good-old home-packed lunch can be enjoyed on the steps of the grandstand, soaking up the views, the rays and the fun Sydney summer.

Holiday, weekend, or a day-out with the family will do for this occasion. It's a perfect way to get your kids swimming-a necessity in this country-while showing them a bit of history, a bit of the city which they can enjoy too, not just for grown-ups. The restaurants, cafes, deck-chairs and day-beds offer some down time for mum's and dad's can cut some laps or frolic with the kids too.

If you like to bask in the sun, if you have a spare Summer Sunday (or Saturday!) and if you want breathtaking harbour views for a low price, then North Sydney Olympic Pool is a simple solution. Bustling cafe culture surrounds the picturesque pool while you can refresh, exercise and enjoy a day by the harbour, single, partnered or with kids too!
