Straddie, as North Stradbroke Island is affectionately known, - or Minjerribah to the traditional owners, the Quandamooka people - lies within Moreton Bay, 30 kilometres southeast of Brisbane City. In summer, the Island is a mecca for sun and ocean worshippers. Winter is every bit as visually beautiful though not as many of us have the courage to brave the surf.
