The was founded in April 2009. With over six years experience under the belt, this ample market has become North Queensland's only specialty boutique market designed for parents to sell and buy new, homemade and pre-loved items, and it's an excellent venue to receive information on local services and support.

The indoors market for Townsville parents and parents-to-be is flourishing with over 90 stalls that feature a plethora of products and services for you to grab a bargain or a one-of-a-kind item. The next NQBKM will be held at the Ryan Catholic College in Kirwan, on Saturday the 13th of June, inside the Emmaus Hall.

There will be 500 bounty bags up for grabs (one bag for preggie mums, and one for new mums), and 250 copies of the Townsville Bulletin's Saturday paper to giveaway at this weekend's market. A lucky door prize will be snapped up by one fortunate attendee – a photo shoot package with Lil One Newborn Photography , a value of $500. Totally worth the $2.00 entry, if you ask me!

There will be handmade and pre-loved toys, clothes, modern cloth nappies, eco-friendly products, jewelry, ring slings and more. To occupy the kids there will be an arts and crafts station, jumping castles and face painting. A bead-making workshop will be run for children and adults alike, where you can learn how to make your own necklace, bracelet or key chain.

Here is a bigger taste of what you will find at the market:

STALLS

Homemade clothes for babies and children will be a hot feature at the market. Chloe & Kate have the girls covered making stylish clothes in beautiful fabrics. The Lilly Patch will also be there with an array of garments for the littlies. For those wanting an extra-special memento for their precious one LilyAnne Designs handcrafts spectacular jewelry with real sentimental value to last a lifetime. Ninja Babies will bring "Funkiness for Fun, Teething and Special Needs" with BPA free, chewable jewelry in an assortment of vibrant colours and designs. A wide range of necessities are available from Anglefish Dragonfly . They stock earmuffs, dolls, wall decals, towels and linen, nightlights, hats and clothes, and eco products such as baby bottles, cot rail teethers and toys.

In the pre-loved sections you will have no problems finding a great deal on baby furniture, baby baths, activity walkers and much more.

FOOD

There will be two food stalls inside the market, each with a sweet-tooth focus. The Macaron Lady will be there to make life delicious with a generous selection of drool-worthy macarons. Flavours to explore will be salted carmel, lemon curd buttercream, coconut rough, Milo, white chocolate, double choc raspberry, Turkish delight, redskin, tiramisu and vanilla bean. The Macaron Lady will also be showcasing two new flavours – cherry ripe and blueberry cheesecake. I'll have my eye out for the redskin, but this entire list alone is enough to have me knocking on the entry doors early Saturday morning!

Gluten Free Love will be bringing gluten-less love to the market with a selection of donuts including cinnamon, choc glazed vegan, lemon & passionfruit and apple pie. Add to that list yummy cinnamon donut holes and soft and seedy bread rolls (nut-free). All products are gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free, soy free, organic, paleo, additive and preservative free. There should be a lot of happy tums.

Outside the hall the much-appreciated coffee van will anticipate your needs, and there will also be a range of Not For Profit food stalls. Blankets of Love, a group that provides support to mums of stillborn babies by hand making and distributing quilts, will be there selling tasting plates with a selection of four homemade cakes. Rotary will be putting on the obligatory sausage sizzle, and also serving up bacon and egg muffins for the hungry punters.

SERVICES

Brush up on your emergency skills and book a first aid class with Family First Aid. For pregnant mammas A Window to Your Womb will be providing 4D ultrasounds on the spot, with the opportunity to purchase your photographs. And, Tracy Halfpenny from Calm Birth will be there to offer Antenatal Educational Classes.

There will be many other local services available, and a range of different photography options for capturing and framing your special moments.

The North Queensland Babies & Kids market provides a unique service to the local community bringing Working At Home Mums and parents with their own businesses together with local customers in need of quality products. The market is hosted four times per year in both Townsville and Mackay, and with its success is expanding into Cairns, Moranbah and Rockhampton. If you would like to have a stall at the next market, visit their website for application details here .
