The Botanic Gardens in Mt Cootha, Brisbane will play host to this year's Annual Spring Orchid Show in late August. There will be a huge display of orchids over the weekend, including our own local and also international species.


This event for any person with a green thumb, or appreciation for flowers, is an awesome opportunity to purchase your very own flowering orchid and other various plants and accessories at reasonable prices.


Over the weekend, there will be potting demonstrations and you can get some expert advice on orchids and their culture. The kids will enjoy the arts and crafts tables set up and the many home made cakes, sweets and pastries available on the day. Food and drink can be purchased also for all with sandwiches, Devonshire tea and much more.

The event runs over the weekend on the 27th and 28th August. Admission cost is $4 for adults and children under the age of 14 receive free entry. You can buy into the weekend raffle, where you have the chance to win a large box of stunning orchids and foliage. Winners will be notified immediately after the show is done. So if you're looking for something to do on this weekend, head to the Botanic Gardens in Mt Cootha, Brisbane. Between 8:30-4pm on Saturday or 8:30-3:30pm on Sunday you can enjoy the amazing friendly atmosphere and pretty flowers of the Spring Orchid Show.


P.S if you have time take a drive to the Mt Cootha lookout when you're in the area, it has an amazing view of Brisbane City.
