What is the difference between a vegan and a vegetarian? This is a legitimate question from a writer who is semi-carnivorous and semi-herbivore, in other words, I'm an omnivore! I like to think I'm well-balanced with regards my eating habits.

Well, according to my research, a vegetarian excludes meat, poultry and seafood from their diet. Some vegetarians also exclude dairy, some don't, and some may consume eggs. Likewise, vegans avoid meat, poultry and seafood, but they also take it a step further by eliminating ALL animal products from their diet. This includes any type of animal milk and eggs. Vegans avoid foods produced using animals or animal products in any way, including honey. Many vegans also avoid household products, clothing or other items made from animal products or tested on animals.

Apparently, Australia tops Google's worldwide searches for the word 'vegan' and with Australians' leaning towards a healthier lifestyle, concerns over climate change, cruelty to animals and water usage, veganism is now the fastest growing trend in Australia.

To celebrate all things vegan, the Noosa Vegan Festival is being held on the 21 April 2018 and will be showcasing the diversity of the vegan lifestyle with a wide variety of different stalls, speakers, celebrity guests and of course, an abundant selection of delicious food.
