I've been to many times before, but on a recent walk through the park, I saw some things I'd never seen before.

I had been away for the weekend with my bushwalking group. We had camped two nights at Mapleton and walked on Saturday on part of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk. I wrote about that walk here .

On Sunday morning, after packing up our campsite, we drove down to Parkedge Road at Sunshine Beach. We left our cars there and walked down to the beach to begin our walk around the National Park in an anti-clockwise circuit. I have previously done the same walk in a clockwise way.

It was an absolutely beautiful day and I've never seen the water so calm. After walking along Sunshine Beach to the end, we climbed up the steps to the top of the hill.

We stopped for a rest along the way on some cliff tops and there were some beautiful coloured kayaks below us paddling in between the rocks. They looked as if they were looking at something because they stayed around the area for a long time. I wondered if they were seeing sea turtles.

I have previously seen sea turtles further along the cliffs on other walks at Hell's Gates. The water was so clear and calm and a beautiful green colour, which contrasted beautifully against the red and yellow kayaks.

We stopped at all the lookouts along the way including Boiling Pot, Dolphin Point, Hell's Gates and Devil's Kitchen. There were wonderful views from all the lookouts up and down the coast and we walked through different environments including coastal bush, rainforest, iconic Pandanus trees, Banksia, long beautiful beaches at Alexandria Bay and rocky foreshores. We didn't see any nudists this time but I have seen them there on other visits as it is a well-known nudist beach.

On other visits, I have seen dolphins, whales, large schools of tuna fish as well as sea turtles in the sea from along the tracks. People have also seen koalas in the National Park, but I haven't seen any yet.

This time, I saw a heart-shaped pool I had never seen before. It was at Boiling Pot lookout.

Three young women were swimming in the pool. I was lucky to get a photo of them all jumping in the pool together. They were all wearing goggles. The reason I had never seen people in this pool previously is because it is usually covered in huge boiling waves, which gives it its name.

Some of our group swam in the sea a bit further around the track at a quiet part of the beach.

After lunch and coffee at the Information Centre near the Noosa Park entrance, we walked back through the centre of the National Park to our cars at Parkedge Road. Our circuit walk was about 13 kilometres. It was a really nice end to a fantastic weekend.
