Green Thumbs Up
Orchids are one of the largest and most diverse families of flowering plants. Most species are epiphytes - plants that attach to other plants such as trees. Did you know that more than 800 orchid species are native to Australia and live in a variety of habitats?
Check out all the exotic species of orchids at the show.
I'm sure you'll agree that there is something very special about orchids. It could be their smooth bright green foliage, or their spectacular blooms, or their enchanting scent. I once had a purple Cattleya with the most exquisite fragrance. Whatever the reason, orchid lovers can unite at this year's Noosa District Orchid and Foliage Society's Spring Show.
The Spring Orchid Show will be held at Cooroy RSL Memorial Hall on Friday September 18 and Saturday September19. On display will be a variety of exotic orchids and there will be plants for sale at reasonable prices too. Entry fee is $3.
