A cat will lead you on a shopping journey like no other
In a converted house-to-shopfront in West End is a gift store to die for with quaint gardens out front and charming interior which will have you lusting over the idea of owning a shop of your own just like it. Nook has been operating here for around 5 years and has been a constant source of inspiration and shopping bliss for locals and those who travel from further afield just to sample the delights within.
Perhaps the most beautiful item on the shelves is owner Michelle's cat, Pedro, as he lounges around willing you to look at the next section or what's new in store. You will be sad to note that Pedro is not for sale, merely a fluffy, cuddly tease to entice you in.
Michelle has sourced her stock from all over but remains loyal to independent designers and makers. She has been inspired by Etsy, designer markets and other similar boutiques in Melbourne and it really feels like you've stepped inside Etsy or the best handmade market you've ever been to. With ceramics from Bridget Bodenham to greeting cards by Hartland Brooklyn and Small Adventure, there truly is so much to look at that you'll need a good hour to see it all.
There is also a keen eco element to items for sale in the store with Keep Cups, upcycled cotton socks and beautiful hand painted cheese boards by Millie Fairhall which are made on the Sunshine Coast using salvaged timber. Having items which are well thought out and functional are how Michelle chooses the stock which eventually makes it onto the shelves.
You will be astounded at how much she has managed to fit into a tiny space without it feeling cramped or overwhelming. The new deck out the front also adds to the feeling of arriving at a close friend's home and being invited to choose from their personal collection. This really is a must-see whether you're looking for a gift or just wanting something for yourself.
