Spot the ghost...the cast of Blithe Spirit

NoŽl Coward's play Blithe Spirit is one of those theatre classics that every comedy theatregoer wants to see, and every comedy actor wants to be in.

First performed in 1941, the initial West End season ran for 1,997 performances, and later that year it ran on Broadway for 657 performances. It has been adapted for film, radio and television, but it is in live performance that the antics involved in the play's supernatural effects are most impressive and fun.

Blithe Spirit is set at the house of socialite and writer Charles Condomine and his wife Ruth. One summer evening, Charles invites local eccentric medium Madame Arcati to hold a sťance at his house.

It soon becomes clear that the medium has unwittingly brought back Charles' first wife Elvira, who causes all kinds of mischievous trouble between the married couple.

Edith the maid strives to please.

Intensely funny and character-driven, Blithe Spirit combines farce, emotion, and wit to great effect.

Experienced comedy director Julian White is at the helm of this production, which stars Kirsty White as Ruth Condomine, Judith Boyd as Edith, Tony Glazebrook as Charles Condomine, Victoria Bensted as Elvira, Angus Macklyn as Dr. Bradman, Allison Johnstone as Violet Bradman, and Yvie Somerville as Madame Arcati.
