Meet The Makers
Ceramics is one of those crafts where the beauty is definitely in the detail. Different types of clay can be sculptured and glazed and then fired to produce one of kind creations. It is a very ancient art, considering the first use of functional pottery for storing water and food is believed to have been about 9000BC.

But what of modern ceramics? Why not take a look for yourself! A joint exhibition of ceramic works by Shannon Garson and Clairy Laurence will be held at Art Nuvo Gallery, 25 Gloucester Rd Buderim, from 15th October to 4th November 2016. The opening celebration will be at 10am on Saturday 15th October and gives you the chance to meet the artists and discuss their works. The theme is Nocturnus so it's not surprising that the artworks are either practical or decorative and feature nocturnal creatures such as owls and moths as well as the heavenly bodies in the night sky.
The artists will also be demonstrating their skills on opening day which means you will have the chance to watch them in action. The Nocturnus Exhibition is free to attend and is a wonderful way to support local talented artists.
