How many nocturnal creatures can you name? Fancy a little wander through the bush by night? The Australian bush comes alive after dark and a
free nocturnal tour is the best way to become familiar with our unique wildlife right in their home habitat. In fact, I was amazed to learn that 70% of our wildlife is nocturnal, so that shows how much we miss out on by staying indoors at night.
Every month, Brisbane-ites are invited to join environment centre rangers on a night time native animal-spotting adventure.
Brisbane City Council's Active Parks Program has teamed up with Boondall Creek Environment Centre and
Downfall Creek Bushland Centre to present this ongoing monthly series.
The
free walking tour follows designated tracks through the local bushland, covering about two kilometers. Parts of the track are unpaved, so wheel chair and pram access are limited. Children are welcome, however they MUST be accompanied by an adult. Brisbane City Council recommends wearing comfortable enclosed shoes, clothing suitable for bushwalking and weather conditions, bring a torch/head torch and insect repellent. Bookings are essential as tour numbers are limited. Phone
Brisbane City Council on 3403 8888.
