Nobu Japanese Restaurant

Had a great dinner at Nobu Perth last week - five courses, of which the Tuna Tataki with jalapenos was the highlight.

Started with drinks at the very cool bar - great service and an exceptional virgin mojito for my teetotaller husband. All courses were delicious, had more than we needed, including dessert and liqueurs.

Chocolate Fondant and Green Tea Ice Cream Bento Box and the Homemade Lemongrass and Ginger ice cream also a hit.

Was expecting uber-cool, ultra-expensive. Instead had a lovely intimate dinner for two with change out of $180; not bad for so much food and a special occasion in my book.

Nobu Perth is the latest Nobu to open worldwide as part of the gentrifying of Burswood Casino to Crown Perth. A partnership between Robert De Niro and well regarded Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, it is definitely more Samurai den than Geisha Palace. Not a cherry blossom in sight, very masculine and somehow despite the culture of the cuisine, very very De Niro.

Worth a second date!
