Situated 41km from Perth, just outside the small hamlet of Gidgegannup, the Noble Falls reserve is a beautiful place to enjoy a family picnic or to simply relax surrounded by the beauty of nature. Although the falls are relatively small in size they are very attractive, especially after regular rainfall, when the Wooroloo Brook flows swiftly.


Spring is a particularly pleasant time to visit, as the surrounding bushland is embellished with myriads of exquisite wildflowers in a variety of dazzling colours. Wildlife is also abundant in the area, and sightings of kangaroos, wombats and echidnas are not uncommon. In addition, many varieties of native birds are regularly spotted, including the rare black cockatoo. Therefore, Noble Falls is a wonderful place to introduce friends or family from overseas to our unique Australian flora and fauna.

The picnic area is situated very close to the falls, and is well catered for with gas barbecues, shelters, picnic tables and public toilets. To keep the children entertained, there is also a playground.

Many visitors choose to explore the area by following the walking trail which meanders along the brook. It's approximately 3.5km in length and is generally flat, so is suitable for most levels of fitness. However, for the elderly, frail or the very young, much shorter yet equally pretty rambles are possible, by staying close to the car-park and picnic area.

In conclusion, the Noble Falls reserve is a wonderful yet extremely accessible retreat from all the chaos and clamber of city life. Whether you're looking for some time-out in nature, or are wanting to introduce your children to the wonders of the natural world, you'll invariably return to Perth refreshed, rejuvenated and with a greater appreciation of our great Australian bush after a visit to this delightful reserve.
