I have always been a bit of an "unco" dancer, always trying to blend into the crowd, making my way to the middle of the dance floor in an attempt to be inconspicuous. However, at around 6ft tall with my beloved heels, I kinda always "stuck out", or so I thought. Not being the kind of person that craves attention, it always made me uncomfortable. In hindsight, probably no one was watching anyway.
No Lights No Lycra is global dance community that shares in the the belief that everyone can (and should) dance (like no one is watching). NLNL provides a non-judgemental and unpretentious place where you can explore your self expression & daggy dance to your hearts desire, safe in the knowledge that no one can actually see you. Because it's dark.
There is no need to book, just turn up on the scheduled nights. Please be aware the class is strictly drug and alcohol free and also note that in order for people to truly lose themselves in the music, which is the aim of NLNL, it is important to keep talking to a minimum.
Currently classes are twice a week in Newtown and Bondi & cost is $7 a class.
Thursdays at Main Hall Newtown, 189 Church St, Newtown, 7:30pm – 8:30pm
Mondays at Bondi Pavilion (Seagull Room), Queen Elizabeth Dr, Bondi Beach, 7:30-8:30pm
