If you've ever had the desire to dance while no one's watching, No Lights, No Lycra is the event you've been waiting for. Whether you're embarrassed by your wobbly bits, your Elaine dancing or your lack of rhythm, (NLNL) offers a place to let go and boogie without judgmental eyes burning into your soul.

As the name suggests, the event is so dimly lit you can dance your heart out without worrying about what you look like. There's just enough lighting for you to avoid tripping over of thrashing into someone else.

The concept was born in Melbourne in 2009, the brainchild of self-proclaimed 'unruly dance students' Alice Glenn and Heidi Barrett. With no light, no teacher, no steps to learn and no need to have coordination or technique, it's no surprise NLNL has become a hit on a global scale, with events everywhere from Berlin to Hong Kong.

Bris-vegans can join in the dancing in the dark weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from seven to eight p.m. for as little as a fiver.

Devotees attend for many reasons, to unwind, exercise, and the chance to feel free. NLNL is a drug and alcohol free event. There's no need to book, just show up when you're in the mood for a dance! I'd recommend bringing a water bottle and wearing comfortable clothing.

The events are on hiatus over the silly season, but will return from January 20th at two venues…

Tuesdays, 7 – 8pm
Colossus Reception Lounge
71 Jane Street, West End

Thursdays, 7-8pm
Windsor Presbyterian Church
58 Maygar St, Windsor
