If you're looking for an ice-cream parlour with a difference, then Nitrogenie Southbank is a must. Located within the Stanley Street Plaza at South Bank, this venue offers amazing ice-cream made with the "magic" of liquid nitrogen.
Cue the bright neon lights, an array of silver machinery and staff with white lab coats. Customers will witness an exciting science demonstration as their desired ice-cream treat is created right before their eyes.

The Process
Nitrogenie boasts an impressive range of gourmet flavours, ranging from the more traditional Vanilla Beanie to the highly creative Maple Syrup Roasted Macadamia, Condensed Milk and Milo, Lemon Meringue Pie and more. Each week seven flavours are selected from the list to feature in-store.
Customers order their desired flavour and serving style (bowl, cone or Nitroshake). A batter-like consistency of eggs, cream and other real food ingredients is placed in a stand mixer.

The attending staff member dons a pair of safety glasses and begins to blend the mixture. Liquid nitrogen is added and a cloud of "smoke" billows around the machine. The freezing process is incredibly rapid, resulting in deliciously smooth and creamy ice-cream.

The Process
This process alone is definitely worth a visit (the delicious ice-cream just sweetens the deal).
